Have you been disappointed in your faith? In its teachings? In its leaders? Do you wish you could heal the wounds connected with your religious upbringing?
Our national conference, Healing Our Religious Wounds, provides a great opportunity to explore these issues from many perspectives. Although this conference cannot promise to “fix it,” it is designed to help you deepen your understanding and connect more authentically to your spirituality.
We are privileged to feature as our keynote speaker Bishop John Shelby Spong, author of such best-selling works as Rescuing the Bible from Fundamentalism and most recently, Eternal Life. Bishop Spong will discuss his personal journey as an Episcopal priest and then bishop, in which he went through several crises of faith, leading to some radical and healing insights. Bishop Spong will be joined by a number of other pivotal thinkers in the field, such as Christopher Bamford, senior editor of Parabola; spiritual counselor Maurice Proulx. Richard Smoley, author of Inner Christianity: and others.
Whether to take this opportunity to hear Bishop Spong in person or to progress in your own personal pilgrimage toward wholeness, do join us for this evocative conference, which will combine lectures and simple movement practices with supportive group work. We hope this will help participants face, forgive, and heal the personal wounds inflicted by religious experience.
People of all faiths are welcome!
