Dear Friends of Religion Communicators Council,
I hope you won't miss out on our lunch meeting this Tuesday, March 16, with Joshua M. Greene and Shiva Kumar, two master story-tellers who will describe the secrets of using video to tell compelling stories about faith and religion.
Shiva Kumar, an award-winning media producer and director, has worked in commercial, documentary and corporate filmmaking for over 20 years. Kumar's eclectic resume includes documentaries for the United Nations, PBS, The Discovery Channel, Integral Yoga Institute and Religions for Peace, industrial and marketing films for corporate giants such as American Express, Pfizer and Microsoft, Reggae music festivals filmed in Jamaica for pay-per-view audiences worldwide, and a series of social responsibility projects for The Citigroup Foundation, The Verizon Foundation and the Johnson & Johnson Foundation.
Joshua M. Greene is an Emmy-Award nominated filmmaker and author of several bestselling books on faith and religion, including Here Comes the Sun: The Spiritual and Musical Journey of George Harrison. Greene is a former Senior Vice President of Global Affairs at Ruder Finn, the international communications firm. Previously, he was Director of Programming for Cablevision. Greene is also the author of acclaimed biographies including Justice at Dachau: The Trials of an American Prosecutor (Broadway Books 2003) and Witness: Voices from the Holocaust (Free Press 2000). He is also an Emmy Award nominated filmmaker and six-time recipient of TV Guide’s Best Program of the Year Award. He teaches yoga philosophy at the Jivamukti Yoga School and Hinduism at Hofstra and Fordham Universities.
The meeting, from 12 noon to 2 p.m., will be hosted by Religions for Peace on the 10th floor of 777 United Nations Plaza, East 44th Street at First Avenue.
