Q: Guruji, masters have declared that enlightenment is here and now, this very moment. Then what is the role of techniques, yoga and meditation

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: So that it becomes here and now really. Just by reading a menu card your stomach does not get full. If fire is written on a paper it does not burn your hands. The difference between fire written on paper and fire in reality, that is the difference here, okay? You have intellectually understood that enlightenment is here and now but to experience it, it happens only in meditation. The techniques take the mind away from the cravings, aversions and all the obstructions that has come to be in the here and now.

If you have not experienced and realized "It" yet, there are far more effective and "simpler" methods than meditation (advanced or otherwise) that far surpass the higher realms of reality to achieve complete Union with The Absolute - here and now, and in The Next.

Yoga is a step in the right direction but not the final destination.

There are much more advanced forms of meditation that can take you much higher.

When you are ready, your teacher will come.

The infinite here and eternal now transcend space and time. Meditation, contemplation, mindfulness, prayer, et al are means to an end. The end of becoming is the beginning of being. Be that which it is, not what you think it is.

The mystical path is a maze; mystical consciousness is amazing.

Thanks Ron, I completely agree with you, about meditation, that is. (The Mystical Path may be a maze, but the outcome of it is straight and clear.) Regarding meditation, mediation is not the goal, but the means to the goal, and personally speaking, I have witnessed so many individuals using meditation techniques for their own selfish means and self-gratifying spiritual ends, and in this very immature way, meditation is nothing more and self-ingratiated spiritual "masturbation" for selfish gratifying pleasures and means alone, long before one rightly develops and matures to the true mystical state of others-centeredness, rather than self-centeredness. That is why, now, I do not practice any form of meditation, for as I have said repeatedly here on PeaceNext, there are far more effective and "simpler" ways to mystical union/liberation with God, than meditation. The truest and noblest form of meditation is to meditate for all others equally, including yourself, to be free and liberated in Life & God. This is the highest form of meditation practice, and the highest form of spiritual virtue and devotion - the nature of the Bodhisattvas.

Meditation is no technique no form no way but putting yourself under the grace and that grace has the capacity to clear all mazes, all allurement and self motives.( God, Self, Love..................is right here right now................but it becomes more fun and of adds more value when you learn the alphabets before making sentences and learn to make sentences before making paragraphs.............................................Ik Onkar Satnam Shri Waheguru......Here all logic,reasoning...........comes to an end and only the showers of grace drench you to only be feeling the grace and be into the void ……cave of grace...............Ik Onkar Satnam Shri Waheguru
to be able to recognize the miracles happening with every breath and the gr8est being the breath itself giving you time only to think of what is, will be and was......................and not what to get or capitalize on..........

The meditation you speak of, Chanchal, is a more refined style of mediation. Sadly most individuals, at the early stages of their spiritual inquiry, only perform "basic-stylized" meditation techniques for selfish spiritual and earthly gains. Sadly, this is an immature offshoot influence of New Age "selfish spirituality" that gripped many Westerners (and Easterners) by a various elite published few in this area over the last 20 or so years.

If Enlightenment is here and now, then why are so many of us not "consciously" in that Liberated State??? Yes, absolutely, God is ever-present, everywhere here and now, but there are very few who are fully-completely aware of That Ultimate Truth. The Eternal Nature of Enlightenment may very well be always present here and now, but it is another thing entirely to personally/consciously realize This, to say nothing of Enlightenment being achieved of us all collectively and globally in total and equality.

.... That's the Mystical Ideal anyway.
