What the Interfaith Movement Should Do to Counter the Rising Hate in the USA

Dear friends,

There is a whole lot of condemnation by almost all organizations of the massacre at Sikh Gurdwara but so far no plans have emerged to deal with this rising hate as a campaign which all can join.

We must not waste this tragedy to the attention span of our time but take it to a deeper level for the common good.

What do the interfaith movement minds and hearts think we should do to start a counter campaign in the USA?

Hello,

In my interfaith mind and heart I believe that this hatred starts in the homes or in innercircles and sects.  We do have a partial part of our society in America who is ignorant ( and I mean ignorant in the politest way possible) of tolerance.   These are people who are not taught to be impartial.   Our voice is powerful, education on tolerance and impartiality will be key.  I think the media hypes and emphasizes way too much on hatred and it fans the flames of hatred.  I understand they need ratings and shock value is a seller of that, but again if the public are taught first at home, in the schools and the government about embracing diversity, we could begin to make this world a better place for everyone, one 'peace' at a time.  One person at a time.  It is our voice, dedication and time in our communities that will make a change.  We can organise groups to get out there, we can build bridges within our religious sects and use the media for promotion.  We can post thoughts on our walls on facebook or whatever social network you use to get the education out there.

I am a newcomer to this site, forgive me if I am posting late.  I am glad to be here and am willing to help.  If i can further assist you please feel free to contact me here.

Peace

Jill
