Materialism has not taken us far enough spiritually. The consumption culture on a personal level promotes indulgence, says it’s good to satisfy every whim, to have low impulse control, to equate your worth with your possessions. The opposite of what is needed to transform the direction the irresponsible and rapid use of resources on Earth. Let us seek global awareness to shift from the idea "it's good to consume, conquer and control" to "understanding enough without waste". That means for those who have more, a little less in every aspect of daily life, eating, vacationing, indulging, consuming a little less in general. Fast from wanting and begin to do, think and say what is needful. Lets slowdown. and see ourselves as responsible for the future of the planet where there is room for every species; plant, mineral, animal and humankind.

I agree with you Mary. It is to develop an understanding that spirit is the essence of all matter, all things... so, the satisfaction we derive from material possessions is momentary, as momentary as the changing matter... whereas, the bliss, the ananda we derive from spirit is eternal.
