The title references a common English idiom for an obvious condition that is being ignored or under addressed. It also references the tale of stationary blind men describing what they're touching while restricted to only the trunk or tusk or tail or ear or leg.

How is it that the historically sacred, and relatively tiny, space of Jerusalem, with a relatively small population, has become such an imposing, and negative, influence upon so much of the rest of the planet's human population?
