Food poisioning is related to unsafe food, dirty kitchen and dirty kitchen appliances. Your food is poisoned if you do not follow the cleanliness rules at your home. If you stick to some safety rules, food poisoning will never occur.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Every year about 5,000 people die from pathogens in food in the United States out of about 76 million become ill from food. The foods that may cause food poisoning include uncooked or undercooked foods mainly from animal sources, such as dairy products including cheese, meat, eggs or fish.

Food poisoning signs
Food poisoning remediesAs all foods contain small amounts of bacteria, their poor handling and storage and improper cooking can multiply these bacteria in large numbers to cause illness. Food poisoning is caused commonly due to E. coli or Staphylococcus bacteria in contaminated food. Food poisoning often occurs from eating old dairy products, undercooked meats, foods left out of the refrigerator too long or salads that were cut long time back.

Eating foods in hotels, canteens, picnics, large parties, wedding dinners, etc. can cause food poisoning. Salads at such places are generally not properly washed and freshly cut.

Symptoms or Signs of Food Poisioning
The symptoms and signs of food poisoning vary with the source and extent of contamination. The symptoms range from upset stomach, diarrhea, nausea, fever, vomiting, abdominal cramps and dehydration, to more severe illness such as paralysis and meningitis. These symptoms occur within hours after eating contaminated food. The diagnosis of food poisoning is done by testing the stool.

Most food poisioning effects (symptoms) on body clear up in a few days on its own. In the case of continued illness seek medical advice. Children, elders, pregnant women and the persons who use antacids heavily are at more risk of getting food poison.

Following are the symptoms of food poisoning:

Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea
Bloody diarrhea or pus in the stool
Upset stomach, some abdominal pain, cramps
Fever that lasts longer than 24 hours
Dizziness, fainting, rapid heart rate
Weakness, numbness or tingling in the arms, legs or mouth
You should go to a Doctor if

the symptoms (signs) of food poisoning last for more than two days even after home food poisoning treatment OR

there is a fever with or without shivers or chills OR

there is a diarrhea that is very watery (If enough fluid is lost through diarrhea or vomiting, it can affect the body's salt balance ) OR

there is blood mixed in with the stools (could be due to E. Coli and other common food-borne pathogens) OR

there is pus or mucus (whitish-gray in color) mixed in with the stools OR

there are signs of dehydration (intense thirst, dry lips and tongue, increased heart and breathing rates, weakness, and dizziness.) OR

anyone else in your family is also sick with similar symptoms.

Risks of Food Poisioning
Infants, children and elderly people have a higher risk for food poisoning. You are at greatest risk if you are diabetic, have kidney disease, and a weak immune system.

9. Dharmasutra

Precepts On religion

Dhammo mangalamukkittham, ahimsa samjamo tavo.

Deva vi tam namamsanti, jassa dhamme saya mano. (82)

Religion is supremely auspicious; non-violence, selfcontrol and p[enance are its essentials. Even the gods bow down before him whose mind is ever preoccupied with religion. (82)

Dhammo vatthu sahavo, khamadibhavo ya dasaviho dhammo.

Rayanattayam ca dhammo, jivanam rakkhanam dhammo. (83)

The essential nature of a thing is called dharma. The ten virtues, i.e. forgiveness etc., are the ten forms of dharma. The three jewels, i.e. right faith, right knowledge and right conduct, constitute the dharma (religion). To render protection to the living being is also called dharma. (83)

Uttamakhamamaddavajjava-saccasauccam ca samjamam ceva.

Tavacagamakimcanham, bamha idi dasaviho dhammo. (84)

Supreme forgiveness, supreme humility, supreme straightforwardness; supreme truthfulness, supreme purity, supreme self-restraint, supreme penance, supreme renunciation, supreme non-possessiveness and supreme celibacy, these constitute the ten-fold Religion. (84)

Kohena jo na tappadi, sura-nara-tiriehi kiramane vi.

Uvasagge vi raudde, tassa khama nimmala hodi. (85)

he who does not become excited with anger even when terrible afflictions are caused to him by gods, human beings and beasts, his forbearance is perfect. (85)

Khammami savvajivanam, savve jiva khamamtu me.

Mittu me savvabhudesu, veram majjaham na kena vi. (86)

I forgive all living beings and may all living beings forgive me; I cherish feelings of friendship towards all and I harbour enmity towards none. (86)

Jai kimci pamaenam, na sutthu bhe vattiyam mae puvvim.

Tam me khamemi aham, nissallo nikkasao a. (87)

If I have behaved towards you in the past in an improper manner due to slight inadvertance, I sincerely beg your pardon, with a pure heart (i.e. without any sting and passion). (87)

Kularuvajadibuddhisu, tavasudasilesu garvam kimci.

Jo navi kuvvadi samano, maddavadhammam have tassa. (88)

A monk who doesnot boast even slightly of his family, handsomeness, caste, learning, penance, scriptural knowledge and character observes the religion of humility. (88)

Jo avamanakaranam, dosam pariharai niccamautto.

So nama hodi nami, na du gunacattena manena. (89)

He alone is really worthy of proud who is careful not to insult other people. A person who merely boasts, has no virtues, cannot command respect. (89)

Se asaim uccagoe asaim niagoe, no hine no airitte.

No pihae iti samkhae, ke goyavai ke manvai? (90)

Every one has born several times in high families as well as in low families;l hence none is either high or low. After knowing this, who will feel proud of taking birth in respectable or high family? (90)

Jo cintei na vamkam, na kunadi vamkam na jampade vamkam.

Na ya govadi niyadosam, ajjava-dhammo have tasst. (91)

He who does not think crookedly, does not act crookedly, does not speak crookedly and does not hide his own weaknesses, observes the virtue of straightforwardness. (91)

parasamtavayakarana-vayanam, mottuna saparahidavayanam.

Jo vadadi Bhikkhu turiyo tasst du dhammo have saccam. (92)

A monk who avoids all speech that is likely to hurt others and speaks only what is good to himself and to others observes the fourth virtue of truthfulness. (92)

Mosassa paccha ya puratthao yha, paogakale ya duhi durante.

Evam adattani samayayanto, ruve atitto duhio anisso. (93)

A person suffers misery after telling a lie, before telling a lie and while telling a lie; thus suffers endless misery, similarly a person

An Introduction to the Tattvarthsutraji.
Written some 2000 yrs back by Acarya Sri Umaswami, Tattvarthsutraji is the only text which is acceptable to all yhe panths of jains viz digambers and swetambers and all their subsects.
This write-up is based on the lectures by Muni Sri Kshamasagarji and the commentary on Tattvarthsutraji by Late Pt. Sri Kailashchandraji.
Here are some introductory or initial sutras from the Tattvarthsutraji:

“Mokshmargasya nettrama bhettaram karm bhu bhrataam,
Gyaataram vishwa tattvaanaam, vandey tadgunn labdhaye”
Means: The ones who are the leaders of the path of salvation, who have destroyed or disintegrated the mountain of karmas, and who know all the tattvas or realities in their correct nature ,I (Acarya Umaswami) salute them, to get the same qualities as their’s.

“Samyakdarshan gyaan chaaritraani mokshmargah”
Means: Right-faith, right knowledge and right conduct is the path of salvation. Here please keep in mind that the combination of all these 3 is the path of salvation and not one or two alone.Secondly also keep in mind that the term “Samyak” cannot be ezactly equated with the English word “Right”.But, just for understanding it can be taken so.Actually I myself is not satisfied with the translation of the term ‘samyak’ to ‘right’.
Here let us clear one thing also that the right faith and right knowledge occurs to a soul at the same time. And the right conduct follows http://www.facebook.com/l/ccc972kaWzBbjC6Mq_DmNs7uGwg;these.Pt.Sri Kailashchandraji says in his explanation of tattvarthsutraji, that right faith converts the false-knowledge into right-knowledge and so right faith or samyakdarshan is more honorable as compared to samykgyan or right-knowledge and that is why rightfaith is said first.

“Tattvarth shraddhanam samyakdarshanam”
Means: to have faith on the tattvas or realities in their true nature is called as Samyak darshan or right faith.
When the darshan-mohinya karma is suppressed, or destroyed etc then the right faith occurs to the soul.

“Tannisargaadhigammaaddhaa”
Means:This right faith occurs by two ways- one is by own-self’s nature and the other is by the speech or lecture of others. In this the former is Nisargaj and the latter is Adhigamaj. But here it is important to note that in both the cases the actual cause of appearance of the right faith will be the suppression, reduction or destruction of the darshan-mohinya karma bonded to the self-soul.Only thing is that in case of Nisargaj samyakdarshan the speech or lecture etc by anybody else is not the instrumental cause and it occurs without the lecture of the other, while in the adhigamaj , the right faith appears with the speech or lecture of the other.

(Note: I myself is doing the self study of sri Tattvarthsutraji. And ,I am just trying to present and share what I am learnig and these write-ups can be a kind of revision in my studies.)
