What's the first thing you are going to do when you get home from The Parliament with all that motivation, activation, inspiration and wisdom?

I did not go this year. I run a RED TENT TEMPLE for women and girls in Burlington, Vermont. That is what I am doing.

RED TENTS and RED TENT TEMPLES are all over, Gather the women. love Micha

I'm eager to talk with my colleagues at URI when they return home from Parliament - guess talking with me will be one of their first things! Barbara
Welcome Barbara! Thanks for being such an incredible force of Peace!

Amazing! Can you share the sort of things you do at your Red Tents meetings or activities?

I want to find ONE woman's group that would like to commit to a regular teleconference call for the purpose of sharing spiritual stories, defining God moments, how God is working in our lives, interfaith and interreligious dialogue. I believe the connective tissue from the Parliament is strong enough to serve as the foundation for getting started. I say we start in January! Blessings, Linda Higdon
Hi Linda!
Currently, the United Religions Initiative is developing a global network to be a connective force of women's groups (not unlike our WII group here!) and a regular conference call is on my wish list. Keep that intension!

We have held a meeting of those in the Portland/Vancouver area who came to Melbourne, to share our initial reflections and revise our thoughts about how we want to share our experiences with those who didn't come, in our Post-Parliament event scheduled for February 21.

My husband and i also held a small (about 12 people) session with members of our co-housing community, to share our experiences and answer their questions. The most important thing that came from that was their response to the Report from the Indigenous Assembly, and their chagrin that they had never heard about the Doctrine of Christian Discovery and its impact on our own land rights legal precedents. Several of them have asked to borrow my copy of "Pagans in the Promised Land" by Stephen Newcomb, which helps us non-Indigenous understand the cognitive frameworks that we have which keep us from even seeing all the embedded ways that we continue to support the status quo.

So one of the first things I am doing is to make materials available to increase the awareness of those who have yet to see what we do to keep things from changing and what we might do to begin to pursue change in terms of our relationships with the local Indigenous Peoples here in the Pacific Northwest.

Long answer to a short question!
Thanks Helen,
I fell like we all have this Sacred Task to "spread the word" about the Parliament and what I have found from attending other's Post Parliament events is that we all have a different "word". Although all the words are amazing, inspirational, insightful, healing, transformative and educational, they are all as unique as the individual who shares it. It's just as much a blessing for those of us who have attended the conference to experience it from other paradigms as it is for those who did not attend.

On January 16th, Ruth Broyde Sharone (co-chair of the Ca Parliament Committee) will join me on a panel along with 2 other SARAH Sisters at a Martin Luther King Celebration at a local college. This event is also serving as a Post Parliament event chaired by Dr Richard Rose. Our panel is entitled "The Role of Women in Conflict Resolution" which will model the panel that I was on in Melbourne and influenced by the entire conference, particularly; Sister Joan Chittister!

I am committed to making every interfaith event that I chair or participate in a Post Parliament event!

My first intended action was to try and set up a local WIN group (womens interfaith network) in my nearby city of Darwin, but I find my first action has just been telling the story of my experience at the Parliament and I find that people are thirsting to listen.

I didn't go to the Parliament, so for me, I'm hoping to simply learn all I can here, and to start doing what I can in my own ways with women in the community. I am partially disabled, so doing what I can means doing a lot of networking! :) At least initially...

Hugs and BB,
jen :)
