Celebration of Swami Vivekananda’s 150th Birth Anniversary
The Ramakrishna Vedanta Society, in conjunction with the Hindu Samaj and the Sanskrit Studies Centre, recently celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda with a program of nine distinguished speakers representing five different religions. The theme was “Contributions of Different Faiths to World Peace and Harmony.” This event was a milestone in the development of interfaith dialogue in Thailand.
Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902) was a renowned Hindu reformer-monk who championed the harmony of religions and was instrumental in introducing Indian thought to the West. His sesquicentennial is being celebrated widely throughout India and in Indian communities throughout the world.
