Profile Information

Religion / Faith
Christian
I have attended the Parliament of Religions:
Melbourne 2009
I have come to PeaceNext looking for:
networking, interreligious advocacy, interreligious exploration, intrareligious reflection, friendship
I am inspired by:
people such as Thomas Merton, Robert Coles, Mohandas Gandhi and Desmond Tutu,
and the achievements of movements for social change, such as the US civil rights movement and the international anti-apartheid movement.

I admire people who fuse engagement with political issues and personal spirituality.
Interreligious causes I care about:
Peace and conflict resolution, race relations, human rights, climate change, the dialogue between spiritual traditions and religious narratives and major social issues
Changes I am working toward in my community:
human rights education, addressing race relations in Australia particularly the "Northern Territory Intervention"
About Me:
I have long been interested in interfaith dialogue, especially where it has involved engagement with major social issues.

I am married to someone of Sikh background who grew up in Kenya: "home" for the two of us is thus a mix of Africa, India and Australia geographically - and spiritually, a range of religious traditions.

I write "Christian" under religion/faith: this is the tradition I have grown up in and most identify with, but I feel at home both within and outside this tradition.

Very pleased that PeaceNext is happening!!
