I have come to PeaceNext looking for:
networking, interreligious advocacy, intrareligious reflection, friendship
I am inspired by:
I am inspired the conviction that all religions are bound together by being inspired by the same combination of: 1) An original symbol of myth of origin, 2) A code of ethics generally agreed on by members of the local culture, always including compassion, 3) A set of rituals in which faith in this religion is reinforced and made strong (Cf. Robert N. Bellah (Sociologist of Religion first at Havard and then at Cal Berkeley (who directed my Ph.D thesis incorporating these ideas, Prof. Clifford Geertz of the Princeton Institute of Higher Studies (recently deceased). I want to do what I can to promote not just peace but mutual harmony and friendship
My favorite spiritual places:
Benares, India, The Temple of the Golden Pavilion, India, the Taj Mahal, Jerusalem, Rome
Interreligious causes I care about:
Struggling against the recent conservative backlash of my Catholic Church against what was a marvelous encounter with Buddhist, Hinduism, Islam, etc. The Kyoto Cosmos Club
Changes I am working toward in my community:
Leading a group of the World Community of Christian Meditation that incorporated Eastern modes of meditation; writing a book demonstrating the need to rid the Catholic Church of its outmoded law that priests must vow celibacy to be ordained.
About Me:
I was a Benedictine Monk for 13 years, a Catholic priests for eight years, earned a doctorate in Moral Theology under Fr. Bernard Haring in Rome, during the Second Vatican Council, lost a tenure battle at an American Catholic university, apparently because I signed the protest again Paul VI's law forbidding all forms of artificial Birth Control. I earned a Ph. D. in History and Phenomenology of Religion focussed on Buddhism in a joint program at the University of California at Berkeley and the Graduate Theological Union. I earned this degree after four years of research in the Department of Philosophy at Kyoto University, mostly funded by a fellowship from the Japanese Government's Department of Letters (Mombusho). After finishing my doctorate I was appointed full professor at Kansai University in Osaka where I taught for 24 years before retiring with full benefits at 69. both. Both while doing research and after my major interest and energy was focussed on Buddhist-Christian dialogue and encounter. I have published three books and some 35 academic articles. I am now 76 and in good health.

My name is Engin AKSU. I live in the city Kütahya -Turkey. I work as a Turkish teacher in a primary school. I also research Quran (HolyBook of Islam) and believe the brotherhood of people who believes "only one God". In Quran Part:22 (Hac- Pilgrimage sentence: 40) Allah says"(They are) those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right,- (for no cause) except that they say, "Our Lord is Allah". Did not Allah check one set of people by means of another, there would surely have been pulled down monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, in which the name of Allah is commemorated in abundant measure. Allah will certainly aid those who aid his (cause);- for verily Allah is full of Strength, Exalted in Might, (able to enforce His Will)." And Allah says ( Part:2 (Bakara) ,sentence:62) "Those who believe (in the Quran), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve." Those are some examples from Quran.

I am the writer of the book named "Divine Brotherhood". "Divine Brotherhood" was published by Red Lead Press in 2007 and it is open to sales in Amazon.com now.
The events in the book take place in London in England. The Preface of the book has been written by Hasan KUŞÇUOĞLU.
Galip Hasan KUŞÇUOĞLU focusses on Love, Peace and Brotherhood for a new start in the life and a new way to live in his books and sayings in the web-site www.galibi.com .
Can you share your thoughts with us by looking into www.galibi.com or searching on him in the frame of Religions' Diologue.
I would be pleased to see your own ideas and thoughts as soon as possible, so that we would like to pray for you to go to heaven.
