Ida Pedanda Gede Ketut Sebali Tianyar Arimbawa, of Amlapura, Bali, Indonesia, was confirmed as a Bali Hindu Priest in 1985, and is currently Dharma Adhyaksa of the High Priests’ Assembly of Parisada Hindu Dharma Indonesia (Indonesian Hindu Council). He is active in AIDS education and care for youth, and fosters the presence of traditional eco-socio-religio knowledge and practices in national and global environmental forums. He has joined interreligious art, prayer, and dialogues throughout Indonesia and internationally.
In December 2007, Pedanda Arimbawa participated in United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) thirteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP13) held in Bali, Indonesia. A collaboration of Balinese ecologists and spiritual leaders, in sharing the wisdom of the Bali Hindu holy day of silence Nyepi, proposed the 21 March as an annual “World Silent Day”.
