Wow!  Thanks for the link.Breathing and awareness--big part of what I get to teach.   I like this:John 20:  21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. NIV--HELLO IT'S YOUR BREATHE!That's funny about Baptists.  I am a card-carrying Methodist, but nobody I know has unraveled or figured it out.  But some seem to experience a Divine Presence in the Crack.  Like you?  What do you experience in that still point?  What else has meditation given you in addition to the sense of timelessness?Sorry to hear about that injury  to your sister. It is good to communicate with you.Bob

Here's were I'm coming from James...Dean Shapiro did an excellent job in the book Precision Nirvana showing how East meets West when applying self-management strategies to cognitive processes.  The mystical bridge seems to somehow transcend the religious teachings at some point (getting outside one's metaphysical boxes or heuristics).  Characteristic of that point are the commonalities of the "mystical experience" (like diminished ego and receptivity).  Whether Baptist or Buddhist, there is a surrender of the metaphysical matrix of religious teaching and technique and a surrender to the infinity of the crack in the matrix.  Personally, "the breath" seems a relevant task.  I like Miriam Trahan's At Ease Breathing and use it as one of the texts in my psychology of consciousness course.
