What is fueling hate in the United States?

In my work with the Faiths Against Hate task force,  we have been discussing what is fueling the increased hate in the United States with regional and national faith and interfaith groups.  I have several responses including demographic changes in our country religious communities not finding adequate tools to debunk myths about anti-Muslim sentiments and other religious groups media reports as detrimental--reports only the worst things and the good work that is being donesensationalism of…See More

About Me:
I am a second year Masters of Divinity student at McCormick Theological Seminary. I am also working as an intern for the Faiths Against Hate task force of the Council for the Parliament of the World's Religions. I love the work we do to address the rising number of hate crimes against minority religious groups in the United States.
I am passionate about interreligious dialogue. I have always loved learning about religions--both my own and others. I feel that a great deal of the violence and hatred in our world is due to a lack of knowledge about people and misunderstanding. We are all human and should be treated with dignity and respect. I love forming relationships with people from backgrounds different than my own and learning from them. I feel as though my education has only just begun and hope to engage in a life of learning and relationship-building.
