I am a student and teacher of theology and religious studies who specialises in women's religious experiences. I am working on my PhD at the Centre for the Study of Literature, Theology and the Arts, and I also teach in the Neo-pagan and Traditional Religious Studies departments at Ocean Seminary College. I have a number of mates who are properly shaking their heads and wondering why on earth I would fast for one month...why would I observe a holiday for a faith tradition that isn’t mine? or merely just wondering ‘what the hell is she thinking?’ Some of you who know me well enough might just smile and think to yourself – well it makes perfect sense to me :D In fact, my son asked me this very question…
