My trip to Myers

The other day as I walked through Myers cosmetics department, I couldn't help thinking of the young village girl I met in Shan state Burma.

 

While we spend billions of dollars beautifying our bodies with perfumes, powders, lotions and make up,

Many of the world's poor can't even afford a bar of soap.

 

Now while I understand an individual need to look and feel special,

I have always looked for the beauty within,

In churches, temples, mosques and synagogues, the desire is the same – Happiness, free from Harm,

for this is the universal oneness of spirit.

whether it's tradition, faith, desire, hope or the need for fulfilment, congregations

week in week out year after year follow the teachings without question, waiting for the

day when they will reach salvation, unwilling or unable to question, fearful of the unknown.

 

But there are those who dare to question,…

Unity of truth and the nature of mind.

The evangelist believes he has found the ultimate truth and abandoned the search.

The practitioner follows the truth as given by someone else.

The Seeker is so busy searching, truth passers-by unnoticed.

The Sage, not bound by truth, is free to grow.

 

Bound by the illusion of possessing ultimate truth, the awakening of the mind is impossible.

 

Bound by the limits of our own experiences, we fail…
