An Introduction

Having searched high and low for a religion that 'fits' for many years I have woven my way through quite a few of them. Those that did seem to fit my criteria soon left me disheartened when I found the were not quite right.

This one's too soft, this one's too hard, this one just seems like it would suit someone completely different to me.

Having felt called to serve for so long, I could not find where to serve, where did God want me to go? And why wasn't God a little more obvious about this when I was called!!

I have come to the conclusion (finally), that I really don't understand God. Don't get me wrong here, I have a pretty good idea of who and what God is, I just can't seem to nail it down 100%. This despite researching spirituality, religions and the beliefs of very many people over very many years. It seems a little unfair, but then (I thought) I knew why I was called, it wasn't for one people, but for all.

I became what I would call a very spiritual agnostic. I know God is there, in many forms in fact, but what I see is only our human representation of God - I had been searching for the God behind the Gods.

After a couple of false starts I put together the core of a few conversations. I got together with a group of friends and we decided to found a church, one that was a bit different to the others out there. One that is not dogmatic, materialist or exclusionary.

Since then I have had an outlet for my calling to service, and have discovered that my religion can quite simply be Interfaith - a belief that all views of deity are essentially the same but adorned with the cultural clothing of those that worship.

My name is Peter Brabyn and I am the founding minister of the Interfaith Church of Australia.

Greetings  again  Peter .  My  comment  below , came  out  a  bit  poorly  set  to

the  margins , and  to  long  to  fit .

Basically , if  we  are  seven  billion  people  now , why  are  we  different  groups ,

who  view  our  Creation  differently ?  Our  Unity , as  members  of  the  Human  Race

our shared  Humanity , has  been  discussed  for  generations .  Yet  we  can

remain  divided . by  what  should  unite  the  whole  Human  Race .

Our  ancestors  adapted  to  their  changing  circumstances , and  brought  us

forwards  from  the  Stone  Age , to  now  our  21st  century  Space  Age  today .

Encompass  from  the  first  cave  paintings , to  now  being  able  to  walk  upon

the  Moon  .   From  the  first  using  a  rock  or  stick , as  the  first  tool , to

gliding  thousands  of  feet  above  the  Earth , or  in  a  submarine , deep  in  the

  Oceans  trenches .

Thats  what  human  nature  has  built  for  us , in  not  many  thousands  of  years .

The  billions  of  years , brings  us  from  the  most  simple , struggling  on , for

each  generation , to  grow  from  the  water , to  slowly  crawl  onto  the  land ,

and  now  even  the  sky's  we  reach .

Symbiotic , is  a  wonderful  new  word , about  biological  relationships , and

interdependencies , and  connectedness  of  natures  struggle  for  survival .

Symbiotic , this  may  seem  like  a  cruncher , but  Mother  Nature's  rules

have guided  us  to  survival , for  those  billions  of  years .  As  the  crown

jewel ,the  dominant  species , of  this  planet  Earth , now  join  together  with

our  biological  neighbors , and  share  what  we  are  born  with , not  create

  divisions .

A  family  affair , us  Vertebrates , developing  more  onwards .

As  a  species , the  human  race ,  we  can  work  together  and  solve  our

today  modern  challenges .  All  through  history  we  have  managed to give

our  children , our  offspring , the  same  chance  that  we  were  born  with .

Stone  Age , the  first  cave  paintings , to  now  being  able  to  walk  upon  the

Moon . Water  land  space , don't  stop  now .  love  of  creation  Ron

Greetings  Peter .  Thank  you  for  your  invitation , and  your  energies  towards

building  Peace  in  our  troubled  world .  My  families  future , seems  to  be  relient ,

upon  all  of  my  neighbors  families , sharing  Peace , within  our  modern  21st  century

Space Age  home .   May  conversation , and  contemplation , build  towards  a

connection , that  builds  bridges , and  unites  Humanity  towards  a  Global  Community

building .   GOD's  work , in  a  inter/multi/faith  way .

Please  read  these  comments , with  the  Peace  building  intent , that  they  are

  written .

If  we  look  back , throughout  the  history  of  Human  civilization , on  all  of  the

continents , people  have  sensed/felt , a  great  wonderful  presence .  There  is  GOD

cause  all  through  history , folks  have  experienced  a  connection  to , a  Creative

" something " .  The  definition  of  that  " something " becomes  their  expression ,

of  what  Humanity  seeks  to  understand .  I  feel  a  connection  deeply .

  From  the  Maori's , Eskimo's  Mayan's  ancient  Egyptian's  Viking's  and  Chinese ,

human  beings , feel  a  Spirituality , and  expressed  that , in  their  way  at  the  time .

The  point  is , that  if  any  one  group  has  it  exclusively  right , then  all  other  folks ,

all  throughout  Human  civilization , has  not  been  right .

We  are  one  species , on  one  Planet , so  what  should  unite  all  humanity , has

grown  to  become  what  can  divide  us .

Conversation , is  a  wonderful  thing , in  building  towards  a  community , that  my

family , may  feel  safe  in .  If  families  globally  can  feel  that  safety , then , maybe

wars  will  be  over .  To  many  wars , use  God  as  their  excuse , to  build  their

Empire's , at  the  expense  of  their  neighbors .

My  trust  is , that  Human  Nature , will  recognise , and  find  a  shared  grounding ,

in  how  our  wonderful  Gift  of  Consciousness , as  the  now  dominant  species ,

still  looks  away  from  co-operation , towards  domination .

Folks  of  faith , can  do  this , as  we  seek  a  way  forwards , at  community  building

in  our  current  21st  century  way .  Stone  Age  to  now  our  Space  Age , our  species

  seeks . . . yet  we  . . . .  ?   What  is  it , that  divides  us  so ?

Is  it  the  vulnerabilities  of  our  Human  Nature , that  the  ancient  Spiritual  texts ,

our  Torah's Bible's  and  Koran's , and  so  many  other's , that  served  our  ancestors

so  well , and  brought  our  communities  forwards  to  today , warned  us  of ?

This  has  become  quite  long .  Thank  you  for  reading  all  of  a  comment .

If  there  was  a  Big  Bang , and  billions  of  years , then  we  are  all  one  family ,

the  Mammal  Family  and  the  Vertebrate  Family .  Together , and  sometimes

eating  each  other , we  have  worked  for  our  offsprings  future , and  survival .

All  living  things , on  this  beautiful  Planet  Earth  today , are  family , or  neighbors ,

of  our  billions  of  years  heritage .   Spend  time  outdoors , in  the  bush , and  feel

the  connection .  Seven  billion  people , and  all  of  the  Mammals , and  all  of  the

Vertebrates , from  a  Whale  Eagle  Fish  and  even  Bats , are  our  Kin  folks .

Every  other  living  thing , shared  our  ancestors  struggle , as  neighbors , during

our  history , of  the  ongoing  Creation , of  this  moment  now  today .
