Was a member of some CPWR community groups with a previous email - since about 2000. Changed email accounts about a year ago and lost track of this .... I am very inspired by what the CPWR is doing. Went to a 'peace forum' in Sydney Australia (2003) that consisted of presentations by leaders of many faiths and found it truly inspiring. Like to support this kind of interfaith understanding. I am a spiritual person who aligns closest with Christianity and Buddhism and have had to defend this position on many occasions.

Hi Sandra,

I noticed that three people only have listed locations on the Peacenext world map from Syney to north of Newcastle. You are one and I am another; it makes sense to communicate. The latest special interest of mine happens today;

Here is an introduction to a potentially important event in which universities and university students have an important role.

The Multifaith Concert and EXPO at  Newcastle this THURSDAY (October 6) (details at( http://www.mattarafestival.org.au/external-events-various-locations/)

is a next step toward quantum leaps in a civil society. It’s on this Thursday and within a few years will spread and include an even more inclusive South Lake Macquarie Festival.

Why not sit at one of the CHAT CHAIRS at the EXPO and tell your wonder-full story. I have learned from everyone I have met and consider your story worth telling as it illustrates culture, faith and/or spirituality.

Please spread the word.

Thanks and best wishes

Hello, Sandra, and welcome to PeaceNext. I see from your profile that you are Christian/Buddhist and looking for a new or additional local affiliation. I offer that you may appreciate a Bahai group if you can find one, or a Swedenborgian (Christian) group .... http://www.newchurch.org/locations/directory/asia/australia.html

.... which doctrine clearly states that God, heaven, and other blessings are available to all who live a good life regardless of their affiliations with religious institutions.

Well, I believe that any two (apologies to those who are polygamous) adult people should be able to make a commitment that is recognised as legitimate regardless of their religious faith or their society. We each have a gender determined by chromosomes but I also believe that we are androgynous at the highest level, and have within us both masculine and feminine energies.

Many years ago I lived in a house that had a laneway behind it and fronted onto a main road close to the local shopping centre. At the far end of the laneway to my house was a "half-way" house for transgender people. They knew that they were welcome to take a shortcut to the shops by walking through my house. I believe in focussing on our common humanity, and I always enjoyed having these amazing people in my home.

At that time, I had young children and I am proud to say that they have become adults who are very outspoken about human rights and are also tolerant and accepting. They all also attended Sydney's gay mardi-gras from an early age.

Its about treating people with respect. Nobody makes a conscious decision to be different just for the sake of it. What defines our sexuality is affected by many factors, including biological ones that we have absolutely no control over. What is "normal" anyway? What I don't agree with is discrimination on the basis of gender or sexual preference, and sexually based abuse and violence. I would like to know what the comparative rates of sexual violence are between the "normal" and homosexual populations...

"Greetings Dakotta, you are a very skilled photographer. How did you like Australia? You certainly look like you enjoyed the conference. It is so good for people who did not get there to have such photos. Thank you. Look forward to talking to you, especially about gender rights, which is also a particularly favourite topic of mine. Catchya soon, Sandra"
Thanks Sandra!! :) I enjoyed it, only went to 2 cities on this trip (Melb and Syd) but saw them extensively. What type of gender rights get you passionate?
