Practising 'pure' altruism - the development of Bodhicitta

'As the earth and other elements are, in various ways, for the enjoyment of innumerable beings dwelling in all space, so may I be, in various ways, the means of sustenance for the living beings occupying space, for as long a time as all are not satisfied’  - Shantideva Altruism, as a principle of action, can be defined in relative terms as an ‘unselfish regard and concern for others’, and every day we see examples of this, all around the world.  Global awareness and concern for fundamental…See More

'Inner light' - a universal experience

'Inner light' has many names - Param Prakash in the Ramayana, Sheikinah in the Zohar, Divya Jyoti in the Upanishads, Vergo in the Veda's, Amitabha in Buddhism, Noor-e-Ilahi in the Koran, Chandna in the Sikh tradition.Ever since humanity sort to express it's journey on this earth, people have revered and honoured the sacred. Personal, intimate experiences of inner light have always been recorded - symbolically and allegorically during ancient civilisations, through music, art and song, in myths…See More

Back to a state of 'limitless Grace'

From the beginning of existence,  the universe and our planet, untouched, has evolved throughout time in a natural state of Being, manifesting, existing and operating in interconnected harmony; from our eco systems, to the universal pull that aligns the planets, moves the tides, the sun and moon and turns the seasons, to tiny seeds drawing strength and sustenance from the elements, growing into trees, oxygenating the planet. Humanity evolved in that harmony, intrinsically connected and linked…See More

About Me:
I live in Queensland Australia, in lush sub-tropical surroundings. Birdsong wakes me up in the morning, reminds me how very fortunate I am to live in such a beautiful part of the world. I see myself as a caretaker of this place, try to tread lightly on our precious earth by living a 'green' focused, holistic inspired lifestyle. I have a BA Hons. in Asian cultures and societies, love learning about all people and places, cultures and traditions. I am currenlty writing a memoir about my time living in a Himalayan refugee community while I researched the roles of Tibetan women. Daily meditation, reflection and affirmation nourishes my soul, brings me peace, makes me a better person and clarifies my life purpose.

The wise words of 'enlightened' advocates

Posted on June 6, 2012 at 7:22pm 0 Comments

On my interfaith blog, you will find beautiful reflections, deep insights and wise words from 'Martin Luther King, Albert Einstein, Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook, Luther Standing Bear, The Dalai Lama, Rumi, Hafiz' and much more.  These enlightened individuals all speak in some way about our shared humanity.  Here's a glimpse;

‘I accept all religions that were in the past, and worship them all; I worship God with everyone of them, in whatever form they worship Him.  I shall go to…
