Forgiveness and Loss

Most people think that because we live monastic lives we seldom make mistakes. This is not so. I don’t know that we could live for even a day without making mistakes. We are all guilty of getting caught up in our own passion and process so much so that we sometimes fail to see the consequences of our actions when we initiate or engage them. We lose so many precious things in this way. And loss hurts. We can ask forgiveness of those whom we have hurt. But in the last instance we must sum up the…See More

Full Moon of the Illumined Teacher

From the wellspring of ancient Hindu Tradition emerged the definition of the “Guru”, the one who embodies disciplined qualities of harmony, love, truth and compassion: The guru is celebrated in the present lunar month of Ashada (June/July) on the full moon day, Guru Purnima. The Hindu culture extols its illumined masters, recognizing that the most precious treasure of humanity is wisdom. We honor our wisdom carriers as gods and goddesses who walk the earth as sacred visionaries to mitigate…See More

Hinduism
I have attended the Parliament of Religions:
Melbourne 2009
Local Religious Community / Interfaith Affiliation:
Mother Om Mission/ Living Ahimsa Foundation
Website:

I have come to PeaceNext looking for:
interreligious advocacy, interreligious exploration, intrareligious reflection
I am inspired by:
Living Ahimsa is inspired by Mother Maya's tireless work: Reverence for Mother Nature; simplicity in life, and a commitment to inner harmony! I am inspired by extraordinary human efforts toward peace, wellness and harmony among all faiths and ancestral cultures. I am inspired by the continued quest for self-knowledge, and by the wisdom of the great Rishis. I am inspired by the many hundreds of thousands of peace advocates who have taken the Vow of Ahimsa in thoughts, speech and action- my Global Movement of Living Ahimsa!
My favorite spiritual places:
Living Ahimsa Favourite Shrines: Himalayas, and the pilgrim sites of KadarNath, Badrinath, Gangotri, by the holy Ganges River, and the magnificent temples of South India. Every place of prayer, every mountian, forest, river, ocean and sky; indeed every grain of sand contains the Mother Consciousness-the divinity by which we live, and breathe and think and move.
Interreligious causes I care about:
Living Ahimsa Cares for: Mother OM Mission; Living Ahimsa Foundation; The Parliament of the World's Religions
Changes I am working toward in my community:
To strengthen inter-faith harmony and inter-communal wellness in underserved communities
About Me:
About Living Ahimsa's Spiritual Head: Sri Swami Mayatitananda, affectionately called Mother Maya, is an embodiment of peace and wisdom. She is a renowned spiritual leader, revolutionary healer, and world-class educator and best-selling author. An authority in Vedanta and Ayurveda, her loving presence and extraordinary work in healing devastating disease and despair has touched and transformed the lives of thousands—filling a significant void in the world culture as a nurturer, healer, and educator. She is the Spiritual Head of Mother OM Mission in Guyana, SA, and Living Ahimsa Foundation (India) and Wise Earth School of Ayurveda, the first school for Ayurveda Holistic Health education in the US.

The Reality of Hinduism

Posted on May 25, 2010 at 1:16pm 0 Comments

Hinduism have never been merely a religion, a philosophy, or a society. It is the most ancient tradition of refuge for the wisdom of Self, the sanctuary of inwardness, the labyrinth of the conscious heart. Its vast knowledge and interworking of the principle of Isvara- the Awareness that leads to absolute freedom of the human journey, is unmatched. In reality, it is the only complete living system that we know of which fosters the uncompromising freedom of the individual to soar beyond the… Continue

Greetings of Peace and Love! Living Ahimsa--what a beautiful name! I am happy to be your friend. I have been studying ahimsa for a while, and most recently how it is embodied by Jains, through Jainism. My partner and I went to Palitana, India to film a humanitarian effort sponsored by the Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust in January and blessed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This footage will be featured in our documentary about the emergent global spirituality, "Globalized Soul," showing compassion in action. Namaste, Cynthia
