A 15 Step Outline for a Community Visioning Initiative

In the past, the details of this 15 step outline were only included as a part of larger documents (the “1000Communities2” document, and “The IPCR Workshop Primer”).  The IPCR document “A 15 Step Outline for a Community Visioning Initiative” was created to feature the details of the 15 Steps in a shorter document (28 pages).  Appendices were added to provide a “big picture” context, to illustrate how this 15 Step process would support The IPCR Initiative “constellation of initiatives” approach…See More

The IPCR Initiative and Community Visioning Initiatives: How to Grow Consensus for a Community Narrative—“Organically”

Introduction—How Comprehensive Can Peacebuilding Efforts Be? There is much that can be done to generate goodwill and promote peace that has not yet been done.  Having this conviction—and seeing the potential for much compassion and much solution-oriented activity in many spiritual traditions and many fields of activity relating to peacebuilding, community revitalization, and ecological sustainability—has led this writer to explore ways of actualizing such potential.  The result of those…See More

I have attended the Parliament of Religions:

Website:

I have come to PeaceNext looking for:
networking, friendship
I am inspired by:
The teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba; R.C. Prasad’s interpretation of the Ramacharitamanasa; lives of Christian saints, Sufi teaching stories, D.T. Suzuki on Zen Buddhism; Kuan Yin, Goddess of Mercy and Compassion; “Universal Gateway” Chapter of the Lotus Sutra; Lao Tzu’s “Tao Te Ching”; R.L. Wing’s interpretation of the “I Ching”; the prayer room of the Kunzang Palyul Choling (Buddhist Temple in Poolesville, Maryland)—i.e. with many different expressions of spiritual wisdom… and, as a result, with many different “fields of activity” which contribute to the greater good of the whole (see “117 Related Fields of Activity” at www.ipcri.net )
My favorite spiritual places:
The prayer room of the Kunzang Palyul Choling (Buddhist Temple in Poolesville, Maryland); beside streams in the backcountry/wilderness; where much needed assistance is being rendered in a spirit of compassion
Interreligious causes I care about:
The integration of spiritual wisdom into the everyday circumstances of community life-- especially as a response to the difficult challenges ahead
Changes I am working toward in my community:
Building the Interfaith Peacebuilding and Community Revitalization (IPCR) Initiative (and offering the resources of The IPCR Initiative for free); Building the project "Special Moments of Inspiration and Insight: A Reader from Books and Documents in the English Language"
About Me:
Mr. Pasti has been actively involved in peacebuilding and community revitalization work for over 25 years—as a writer (project-related correspondence, short novel, short story); an editor (newsletters, quotation collections); an advocate of ecologically sustainable communities; a practitioner of voluntary simplicity; as founder and outreach coordinator for The Interfaith Peacebuilding and Community Revitalization (IPCR) Initiative (www.ipcri.net)-- and, more recently, as project coordinator for the “Special Moments of Inspiration and Insight: A Reader from Books and Documents in the English Language (www.specialmomentsbook.net ). Mr. Pasti has been employed in many different settings—door-to-door canvasser for citizen action groups; field worker on organic farms; activity director, companion, and transportation provider for elders with special needs; etc. The most important influence in Mr. Pasti’s life has been, and continues to be, the teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba (age 83, with a main residence in Puttaparthi, India). In 1997, Mr. Pasti completed a 301 page arrangement of selected quotations from “Sathya Sai Speaks” (Vol. 1-11, first U.S. editions) (discourses by Sri Sathya Sai Baba from the years 1953-1982).
