The issue that I see with defining Divine energy as male, is that we accept as sacred scripture the old gods of war and blood lust, re-framed in a "new" religious way, as a pattern for "loving" fatherly behavior. We are taught that the Almighty "loving" Father created hordes of people who would never amount to anything and that "He" went so far as to create a child simply to torture him and put him to death as an example to any who are tempted to step out of line.

It is interesting to me that I have much more "passionate" discussions about faith issues with my friends who, like I, were brought up in very observant Roman Catholic households, than I do with my non-Roman Catholic friends. I hear than Rabbis have lively discussions among themselves about the meanings of the messages in the Jewish sacred scriptures. I wonder if clergy of other religions do the same.

What a wonderful weekend it was, the last weekend of September, which so happened to contain the date of my deceased father's birthday. My father had called me "Y" for much of my life because of my propensity for wanting the reason for everything. He then took to calling me a "mighty powerful woman."
