About Me:

I am working on a large scale project: "The New Archaic: A Natural Theory of Religion." It is based in neuroscience applied to spiritual practices and philosophy. The first phase was a chapter done with Elizabeth Davenport for A Field Guide: Bridging the Humanities-Neurosciences Divide in publication at University of Chicago press. The next is a book on neuroscience and spiritual direction. These are accompanied by many presentations where I try to make the material accessible to people who are hungering for a new model that has integrity, both intellectual and spiritual integrity.
This is my candle to light, and it is so much better to light one candle than to curse the darkness. (but it is probably most human to curse the darkness, then find the candle, then the matches, and finally to light the candle!)
