Bharata Muni has explained these nine emotions or Navarasa in his treatise Natyashasthra. Natyashasthra is an ancient Indian treatise. Navarasa - the NINE emotions Navarasa means Nine Emotions in which Nava signifies nine and Rasa signifies Emotions.
