Taming the Terror Within and Without

Taming the Terror Within and Without

Some of us like to hear those ‘master and disciple’ stories from time to time.  Here is one.

A master and disciple were seated in the tea house taking their tea.  As the master poured some tea into their cups the disciple began talking about recent events.

Blogosphere a wild west or revitalizing faith?

Some discussion is taking place in Catholic circles about blogs and revitalizing faith. It seems, however, that they are a mixed blessing where some of the "loud and proud" have bordered on harassing and nasty. See this link http://www.cathnews.com/article.aspx?aeid=23664 .

Surely, there is healthy cyber-sharing going on as well.

We've all witnessed some really good articles, blogs and other posts. Do we know… Continue

Accountability and spirituality for our religious expression

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rev-james-martin-sj/the-patron-saint-of-abuse_b_744484.html .

Religious Literacy and Intellectual Curiosity: Asking some questions.

Being a post-grad student (doing a masters in catholic theology) I am reading all the time. But, there are some interest books that are not directly related to my study that I also have on the go. There is usually a novel or something similar. There is also the other interest book.

My current other book is one by a journalist named Paul Moses. He has written a book called "The Saint and the Sultan: the Crusades, Islam, and Francis of Assisi's Mission of Peace. I've included…

Impressions on the 2009 Parliament of World Religions one week later

Parliament of World Religions Impressions Blog 15/12/2009

In the mid 1990’s a man in his mid twenties who was training to be a catholic priest was wandering through the CBD of Canberra, Australia. It was a cold winter’s day and as he stumbled upon a Bookmart he went inside. Among other things a book stared at him called “Global Ethic”, edited by Hans Kung and others. It was about a Parliament of World Religions and they had written an introduction that was just fabulous. Years… Continue
