Should the UK ban the Muslim face veil?

Response: I don't understand how this is anywhere close to legal. The veil is a religious symbol, yes, but it's also part of an expression of modesty. You can't ban shirts and force women to walk around naked--no one would even consider it--so why can you ban the veil if the woman doesn't want to flash her jaw or neck or hair? If a woman walks into a French school wearing a shirt with a cross logo, officials can't rip her shirt off, so why can they rip off a girl's veil?
The simple reason why these governments are being accused of racism and hate is that what they are suggesting is preposterous. This forces any critical audience to wonder why a government would try to do something so senseless, and an answer of cultural intolerance arises.
