Members of the Council's staff, Ms. Zabrina Santiago, Deputy Director and Partner Cities Director and Ms. Brittany Loveisky Partner Cities Associate, met His Majesty after his recent presentation before over 600 guests. They presented him with the Parliament of Religions-Melbourne 2009 Executive Summary Report. What an honor as his wife, Queen Rania, participated in PWRM 2009 through a video podcast which was presented during one of the evening plenaries.
Upon meeting Council staff, His Majesty reported that he and his advisors are very committed to supporting the global interreligious movement.
His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein is the 43rd generation direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad. He assumed his constitutional powers as Monarch of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on February 7th, 1999, the day his father, the late King Hussein, passed away.
