I just chaired a session on Pathways to Sustainability, and a lovely woman came up to me after the sesion to introduce herself. It was Jean Miller, OC 55, who lives in southern California and is here with a New Thought church..... I do think she said this was her first Parliament as well. How fun to meet an Obie alum - she hasn't been back to campus lately, so I invited her to c'mon back and see what's changed....hopefully she will....

Another note, since this is my very first PWR entry - the Parliament is indeed fascinating, with representatives from every major world religion, plus plenty of emerging religions and spiritual perspectives as well. I wasn't aware that there's now an Interfaith Seminary in NYC, and there are many Interfaith organizations around the world. It's a hotbed of new perspectives, with many options for learning...... more later!

I'm here with my colleague Greg McGonigle, director of the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life at Oberlin
It's hard to believe that the Parliament of the World's Religions will be wrapping up tomorrow....Greg came up with the best metaphor of the experience, which is trying to take a sip from an open fire hydrant. I've been deeply impressed by the many, many different pathways to the Divine, and Greg's enthused to find the many resources for multifaith dialogue in every major world religion. We've made several great connections and look forward to sharing our learning with communities in Oberlin and beyond.....
Stay tuned - we'll both try to add more posts as time allows about specific insights -
Best Wishes from Melbourne!
