My dear friends,
I am reproducing herebelow a Charter for Global Harmony as poposed by yours truly along with some friends. I would very much like to have your opinion, feed back, anything... And, once finalized, i shall request you to be the first signatories to this carter.
We are now in the process of creating a website for the same.
Thank you, love and light
The Charter for Global Harmony
This document is co-created by Peace-Loving Peoples of different nations, with different religious, ideological, and political affiliations and aspirations. They come from different professions, having different academic background.
Such differences, however, have not come in their way to create this document, and work together for the Global Harmony.
Not merely a Declaration of the Noble Aspiration of its co-creators and all those who would, in future, be the signatories to this – this Charter actually suggests a Road Map to attain to, reach, and realize the Global Harmony.
It is recognized that all religions, belief systems, faiths (including atheism), spiritual traditions, and philosophies speak of harmony as the soul of all social systems. Any society or social system cannot endure for a long time without upholding this principle.
It is therefore necessary that a roadmap is drawn and agreed upon to realize this common goal of all humanity.
The signatories to this charter firmly believe that Global Harmony cannot be enforced. No rules, no regulations, no laws can ever result in Global Harmony, until and unless there is peace in the human hearts, so it is the individual that must first be at peace with him/herself.
Such peace within individuals or “Inner Peace” shall automatically express itself as “Communal Love”, both in micro (among the peoples of one community or nation), and macro (among the peoples of the world community).
Finally, it is this Communal Love that can lead us to the attainment of “Global Harmony”.
Using this charter as a tool, we call upon peoples of all nations to spend at least 20 minutes each day in meditation, using any technique that they are familiar with, or which is in line with their tradition/belief system. For it is only through the inward looking and meditation that Inner Peace can ever be achieved.
Parallel to this practice, we also call upon all peoples to physically engage themselves unconditionally in some kind of selfless social service for at least 2 hours each week or 8 hours every month.
Such social service undertaken must not be directed to the members of one community alone. Indeed, it would be much more beneficial, if the service is provided to peoples belonging to different communities, having different social, religious, and political affiliations.
Last, but not least, we appeal to one and all to actively socialize this charter and its content, using print, electronic, social media as well as other forms of broadcast in order to get them involved in this humane cause for the attainment of Global Harmony.

Comment by Maynard on August 2, 2012 at 11:48am Blessed Anand, how nice it is to see you back, and in apparent strength. I rejoice to see your Charter for Global Harmony, and offer a few reactions which I trust you will receive with more positive affirmation than may appear from these critical remarks.
I'm not sure that this "roadmap" is "necessary", but it certainly is "prudent".
Agreeing that global harmony cannot be enforced etc., I find myself balking at
(1) the inclusion of terms "until" and "unless"; and
(2) the inclusing of regulatory language of "calling upon" others to adopt the specific logistic methods of the authors.
(1) Note that I have no experience with or understanding of being NOT in peace with self. Accordingly I cannot affirm or deny that gaining self peace "shall automatically express itself as Communal Love", and I have doubts that it does, though I have no cause to doubt that self peace is pre-requisite to communal love.
(2) Again recalling my experiential limitations just noted, I have some doubt and no affirmation (other than the considerable testimony of SOME others) that "it is ONLY through the inward looking and meditation that Inner Peace can ever be achieved".
Two more technical point is found in the paragraph: "Such social service undertaken MUST not be directed to the members of one community alone. Indeed, it would be much more beneficial, if the service is provided TO peoples belonging to different communities, having different social, religious, and political affiliations."
Firstly, "must" is a little strong for a suggestion by which to enliven a relationship which, as has been stated, cannot be imposed or enforced.
Secondly, and the point most important to me, is the attention of whether global harmony isn't better realized by service WITH others, rather than service TO others.
Wrapping up, I detect that we agree that "inner peace" can make one non-violent, open minded, and warm hearted; but social interaction is required to achieve harmony.
Additionally I should make one other observation, that the establishment of time boxes such as "at least 2 hours each week or 8 hours every month" creates a mental image of being something other than service and harmony oriented during the other times. When we have a true love of others, and a desire to work with others in service of the nested spheres of global community fills our heart, we'll find ways large and small to express that love spontaneously without identifying it as different from some other part of our selves or our lives.
Sadly, I haven't been able this past week to envision any real *constructive* or substitute suggestions to the actual language of the charter.
I am very happy to see you again, and to see this Charter taking shape.
