A WMQI International Humanitarian Project … Thailand Orphanage
Merekaraka Caesar, founder of WMQI and Principal Trustee, WM Charitable Foundation, whilst living in Thailand a few years back saw Children living on the Edge, and made a vow that one day she would return and set up an Orphanage to help protect little girls from sexual exploitation and trafficking in the hillsides of Thailand’s infamous Golden Triangle, where lies the epicentre of a modern day slave trade. From Thailand’s Northern provinces and from neighbouring Cambodia, China, Lao PDR, Viet Nam and Myanmar, women and children are trafficked and sold like commodities. Once in the sex trade, it is difficult – if not impossible to get out. Mentally scarred, the child prostitutes become street wise, cynical, hardened and embittered.http://http://www.wahine-maori.org.au/Thailand%20Orphanage.pdf
